APPRECIATION – valentines
Work with the Communications Chair to coordinate the collection of trading cards (valentines) and addressing envelopes. Calligraphy skills welcome (but not necessary). Requires meeting after the tour.
CLERICAL
Envelope stuffing, folding, stamping, photocopying.
COMPUTER – database
Enter and organize information at your own computer. Requires the use of Microsoft Excel and attention to detail.
DELIVERIES – heavy
Deliveries, some lifting (cartons of Tour Guides).
DELIVERIES – light pre-tour
Deliveries of all kinds, light weight.
DELIVERIES – light post-tour
Deliveries including call to artist cards in January
ERRANDS – during the tour
Last-minute errands and deliveries on the weekends of the event. This requires a friend or partner to volunteer for you.
EVENTS- workshops
Help with the two artist workshops before the tour. Includes set-up, clean-up, greeting, and assisting during the workshops.
EVENTS-all other
All aspects of putting on an event. Setting up and manning Portland Open Studios booth during street fairs, farmer’s markets, Local 14, etc… May include assisting with art exhibits. A plus if you are comfortable talking with the public about Portland Open Studios.
PHONE CALLING
Calls to make Tour Guide sales, previous supporters and sponsors, cold calls. Calls to make arrangements and follow up for Portland Open Studios events and activities. Calls for research purposes.
PROOFREADING – map
Proofreading the map for proper placement of studios. Proofing the directions and checking for consistency. We need two people familiar with the east side and two familiar with the west.
PROOFREADING – text
Proofreading and editing of Tour Guide, website, and other materials.
PUBLICITY – archive
Collect newspaper articles about Portland Open Studios artists (September-October)
PUBLICITY – photography
Photograph member artists for use in the Tour Guide and other promotional materials in April. Photograph other events throughout the year for publicity purposes.
PUBLICITY – videography
Work with the Communications Chair to create video promoting Portland Open Studios
PUBLICITY – weblisting
Assist in posting press releases to internet calendars
PUBLICITY – writing
Research, interview, and write about a member artist for a blog post
PUBLICITY – writing assistant
Research and write short summaries about member artists. Requires availability in May.
SALES
Coordinators are liaisons between Portland Open Studios and stores that sell the Tour Guide. Collect unsold Tour Guides and collect money for sold guides after event. Help marketing committee with bulk sales of 10 for $100. Find outlets for sales. Coordinate sales to participating artists.
SIGNS
Organize and hand-out yard signs during the workshop. Follow up with artists who need to return their signs after the tour. Collect the signs and deliver to the Events board member. Organize signs that are dropped off during the wrap-up party.
WEBSITE – check
Check the Portland Open Studios website. Proofread all text, check all links, check all artist information for accuracy

This requires checking the Portland Open Studios website on multiple platforms. Mac and Microsoft operating systems as well as multiple browsers such as Chrome, Explorer, Firefox, Opera, Safari, etc…
