Valentines

Portland Open Studios Valentines
Each year we use Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) as part of our thank-you notes to media outlets that have helped us promote Portland Open Studios. ATCs are miniature works of mixed media art and can be considered an artist’s calling card. ATCs have been referred to as a gallery in your pocket.

The cards are mailed after each year’s event, around Valentine’s Day, as a way of thanking the media for their support and also to remind them that the next event is just around the corner.

We are asking each artist to make at least one ATC, but you are encouraged to make more. Because your name will be on the back, it is an additional opportunity for you to promote your art. (Imagine editors shuffling through cards looking for story ideas.) You are free to paint, draw, print, do wax resist, add fibers and trinkets…the possibilities are endless!

The ATC will be be attached with removable glue dots to the front of the card and with the inside message, “Portland Open Studios loves you…”

The ATC is easily removable so your art can be added to the lucky recipient’s collection.

SIZE

ATCs must be exactly 2.5 x 3.5 inches, which is the exact size of a standard playing card that we will be using as our base. Many collectors place their cards into plastic sleeves designed for sports card collectors, so be aware of this when considering the thickness of the finished card.

CARD FRONT

These cards will be delivered as valentines, but how you decorate your card is totally up to you with one exception: PLEASE DO NOT USE ANY WORDS ON THE FRONT OF THE CARD.

CARD BACK

Your signature is required. You are welcome to add optional information such as your printed name, web address, or phone number, but please do not put the date or your artist number in case we need to use some for next year.

DEADLINE

ATCs should be mailed to arrive by September 30. Send them to:

Theresa Andreas-O’Leary
13745 Cameo Ct
Lake Oswego, OR 97034
